Forest survival basics

For outdoor enthusiasts, campers, occasional hikers and seasoned adventurers alike — this training is for anyone who wants to gain solid foundational skills to enjoy nature safely, build confidence, and most importantly, increase their enjoyment in the forest!

You will learn:

  • Bare-handed waterproof shelter construction

  • Fire-starting without matches or a lighter

  • Safe knife handling techniques

  • Water purification without equipment

  • How to use conifer roots

  • Safety basics (emergency fire, landmarks, heat retention)

  • Introduction to edible and medicinal plants that can be used on-site

Day overview:

  • Warm welcome and introduction to the site, Natura Borealis, and the instructor

  • Introduction to edible and medicinal plants

  • Walk to the bushcraft site with fire ring

  • Team fire-starting challenge to test your skills

  • Learn how to use a firesteel to light a group fire

  • Knife handling techniques

  • Interactive lunch with Q&A session

  • Group construction of a waterproof shelter using bare hands

  • Presentation of a second shelter with different features

  • Using roots and building an emergency fire in teams

  • Demonstration and practice of bow-drill fire by friction technique
