Plants and survival

This training is for anyone who wants to learn about forest flora — outdoor enthusiasts looking to add depth to their nature outings, those seeking greater self-reliance, and anyone interested in developing wilderness survival skills!

You will learn:

  • Edible forest plants

  • Medicinal forest plants (for wounds, pain, infections)

  • Useful forest plants (for making torches, soap, fire starters…)

  • How to use leaves, flowers, roots, bark, fruits, resins, and more

  • Basic principles of herbalism

  • Simple recipes

  • Technique for braiding plant-based rope

Interested in plants but don’t know where to start?  We’ll show you simple and accessible ways to begin your journey.

Worried about poisonous plants?  We’ll cover the main risks and contraindications so you can forage with confidence.

Included in the training:

  • In-depth explanations and plant observations

Schedule:

  • 10:00 AM – Welcome and introductions

  • Conifers – Berries, leaves, rhizomes

  • Lunch and herbal tea tasting

  • Wetland flora

  • Surprise tastings and demonstrations

  • 4:00 PM – End of session

The training is led by:

Laëtitia Baconnais, passionate about nature and self-sufficient food practices. She trained at Flora Medicina, has over 15 years of experience in intervention work, and has been co-leading this course since 2020.

Sébastien Couture, who has trained over 1,500 participants since 2019. A certified first aider and passionate outdoorsman, Sébastien has also trained with Gourmet Sauvage. His background in community work, facilitation, and training makes him the ideal guide for this course — bringing a teaching style focused on realism, efficiency, and a good dose of positivity.

Cancellation policy: Cancellations made 7 days in advance may be rescheduled. Within 7 days, postponement is not possible. No refunds will be issued under any circumstance.
